Arts Education
The A+ Program combines interdisciplinary teaching with daily arts instruction. The program incorporates the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, which was developed by Harvard psychologist Howard Gardner. Students are provided opportunities to discover and nurture each of the eight intelligences: linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. Students develop different strengths and combinations of intelligences throughout the academic year. By combining Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory with interdisciplinary teaching, classroom teachers provide many opportunities each day to acknowledge and nurture unique learning styles and skills in each individual student. Students will participate in fine and performing arts instruction, and also participate in clubs (such as orchestra, chorus, drama, and/or art) to further enrich their curricular experiences.
